7. Harry: A History - Melissa Anelli
8. The Vinyl Cafe Unplugged - Stuart McLean
9. Wishful Drinking - Carrie Fisher
10. When You Are Engulfed in Flames - David Sedaris
11. Seeing Me Naked - Liza Palmer
12. The Road - Cormac McCarthy
13. The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
14. The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway
15. Eat, Pray, Love - Elizabeth Gilbert
16. Running With Scissors - Augusten Burroughs
!7. A Confederacy of Dunces - John Kennedy Toole
18. Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
19. Tales of Beedle the Bard - J. K. Rowling
20. Never a Dull Moment - Ernest Steele (my grandfather's memoirs)
21. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle - David Wroblewski
Books I tried to read during that time but never finished (or really started for that matter):
1. In Cold Blood - Truman Capote (Not enough energy to delve in during the dreary month of November.)
2. Captain Corelli's Mandolin - Louis de Bernieres (I've made several attempts before and can't seem to get past the first few chapters. Though the scene where the doctor extracts a withered pea from his patient's ear was written well enough for me to have that image nicely engrained in my mind.)
3. The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho (I've read it before though, excellent book!)
4. 100 Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcias Marquez (I will make another attempt. After renewing my loan twice from the library I just sort of gave up.)
5. Slaughterhouse Five - Kurt Vonnegut (I've read some of it before but keep forgetting the story.)
I'm sure there are more but I can't remember.
I think I should start writing summaries of every book I read (even like, really short ones) just so that I can refresh my memory when I try to remember what they're about. Or if they're worth re-reading.

ReplyDeleteOut of your list I've only read Looking for Alaska and half of The Great Gatsby. I think I'm going to read your list of books next because you seem to like the same kind as me :)
